Meet Your Instructor
Rozlyn Lenox
Natural Horsemanship Trainer/Instructor,
EAL facilitator

Since I was 15 and I volunteered in a horse program for high risk youth, I knew I wanted to train horses and people and use horses for emotional therapy. At that same time I gave my life to Christ and knew I wanted to share my faith in everything I do.
I got my B.S. in Equestrian Studies in 1994, but I just always knew there was something not right with "making" horses perform for us. I had my own training facility for 7 years. After discovering Parelli Natural Horsemanship(NH) and started understanding how prey animals think, I knew I had to shut my place down and re-learn EVERYTHING! And I was even more convinced that horses are amazing at helping humans heal emotionally!
I did Parelli 's home study program, took lessons and clinics, and mentored under a 3 star Parelli Professional. Then in 2023, I got my certification in Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) so I can use horses to facilitate healing and self improvement in anyone who has been through any kind of trauma.
I had been doing NH and EAL at different locations, but in January 2025 God opened a door for me to have my own faith based business - Crossroads Ranch - located in Waddell Az.
I now help people build their relationship with their equine partners and show them how to take that relationship into any activity they want to do through NH. And I help people who are wanting emotional healing/self improvement find it through their love of horses with EAL.

What is Natural Horsemanship?
Natural Horsemanship (NH) isn’t a specific technique—it’s a way of being with horses. It’s about understanding the horse’s world and learning to communicate in a way that makes sense to them.
Most of us know that humans are predators and horses are prey animals, but few truly understand what that means from the horse’s perspective. To connect with horses, we must first be willing to learn how they think, learn, and interact. In a herd, safety is the horse’s top priority, and everything they do revolves around finding and maintaining that sense of safety.
Practicing NH means becoming aware of our own natural “predator” mannerisms—often ones we don’t even realize we have—and learning how to change them. When we present ourselves as calm, consistent, and trustworthy, we become the “safe lead horse” every horse looks for in a herd.
Once a horse feels safe with us, trust begins to grow. This is the mindset in which learning and true understanding can happen. From there, we can begin developing the basic exercises that lead to any advanced maneuver. Over time, these basics can be refined and applied to any discipline or activity you choose.
The result? A calm, confident, and connected partner—no matter what the two of you choose to do together. And best of all, the relationship only grows stronger over time

The Deeper Meaning of Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)
Horses have a remarkable ability to help humans heal and grow. As prey animals, they are masters at keeping safe and are adept at survival. These skills mirror our own when we are emotionally and mentally healthy.
Trauma, crisis, or unconscious behavior patterns can disrupt our natural balance. Most of our actions—about 99%—are habitual, meaning we aren’t even aware of them. Working with horses in EAL sessions brings these patterns to light in real time, allowing for profound self-awareness and growth.
What might take months of traditional therapy can often be experienced and understood in a single session with a horse. Sessions become even more impactful when a therapist participates alongside the client.
Through guided exercises, horses provide powerful metaphors for our behavior, highlighting both strengths and areas for growth, as well as nonverbal messages we send and receive. Because the focus is on interacting with the horse, clients feel less pressure and more freedom to explore themselves.
The result? Life-changing “aha” moments that can create lasting insight, emotional healing, and personal transformation—sometimes in just one session.
